He has been Ex- Professor and Head, Dept. of Biochemistry, Government Medical college Dhule (Maharashtra).
Established Medical Genetics centre at the B.J. Medical College, Pune (Maharashtra) which is providing medical genetics facilities for Western Maharashtra. Established Tribal Health Research Project at the B.J. Medical College, Pune (Maharashtra) to study the tribal health problems in detail.
Conducted several population genetic surveys from the State of Maharashtra and studied different genetic markers amongst 20 different population groups.
Special population genetic surveys to identify the Sickle Cell gene particularly in Tribal and Scheduled Caste population.
Established Community Control Programme centre for Sickle Cell Disease in highly prevalent area in 1998 at Roshmal Budruk, Tal. Dhadgaon, District. Nandurbar amongst the Satpuda Mountain ranges, Providing Diagnostic facilities, Treatment Counseling in Nandurbar District to control Sickle Cell Disease.
Published 84 Scientific papers in different National and International Medical journals. Awarded the ICMR research sabbatical award in 1983 to study genetic disorders in different population groups of Maharashtra.
Life Member of the Indian Society of Human Genetics Elected as Honorary Secretary (1985-86). Organized two national conferences and workshop for Indian Society of Human Genetics (Nov 1991, Dec.1993) and National Symposium on tribal health in Nov 1981.
Selected in 1983 as Indian delegate to attend meeting and workshop on hereditary hemolytic anaemia organized by WHO at Cyprus.
Awarded Bremen University fellowship in 1993 &1995, Awarded Bhatia Oration Award (ICMR) 2004. Life time honor for Sickle Cell research, from Vision Medical Foundation Bardoli. Gujarat.
Award for exemplary work in field in medical education by Dwaraka Medical Foundation Pune. 2008. Award of Honour from Janardan Maharaj ValviPrathisthan Dhadgaon for Commendable work for eradication of endemic goitre and to study the Sickle Cell Disease from Nandurbar District.
Traveled in Cyprus, Canada and Germany and throughout India for guidance and informative lectures and as field expert in Sickle Cell Anaemia.
