HOT WEATHER AND SICKLE CELL:
The weather temperatures expected for today and Tuesday of this week are such that the government has issued a nationwide health alert/emergency.
As you probably know the weather is likely to be the hottest ever experienced in parts of the UK.
Extreme weather – hot or cold is not good for people with sickle cell and can trigger a crisis.
HOT WEATHER TIPS:
☀️ Stay cool and in the shade if you have to go out. Drink plenty, and we mean plenty of fluids
☀️ If you are feeling unwell after 30 minutes of resting and having drunk plenty of water, it is possible that you could be suffering from heat exhaustion so over the next few days whilst we have these high temperatures, slow down and stay cool. Now is not the time to be overdoing it.
