VISION: "MAM is a Non Governmental organization working for the overall upliftment of the living standard of the socially and economically weaker classes of the society."
What started as a modest health service providing "Sane Guruji Arogya Kendra" through the initiation of 5 medical graduates, Dr. Dada Gujar being the prominent amongst them. Today MAM has become an integral part of all the developmental activities in and around Hadapsar. This was small & humble beginning named " Maharashtra Arogya Mandal", established as a Charitable Public Trust on the 10th death anniversary of Sane Guruji (11th June 1960).
The work that started with a small OPD, has now acquired a multifarious character. Even the area of operation that was restricted to 9 villages around Hadapsar increased, beyond the limits to villages of 2nd phase and the Bhimashankar Tribal Development Project. It was not the part of expansion programme but the felt need that prompted MAM to expand. Such expansion was not allowed to affect the quality of the work; discipline for excellence was attempted and achieved.
MAM was involved in health services, preventive medicine, but instead of restricting to these areas, it also realized the need to work in support areas like waste water, sewage disposal and sanitation, school children health monitoring and nutrition. The multifarious activities included improving the communications by building approach/ interconnecting roads, construction and running of schools, development of water resources by construction of small percolation dams and many more. MAM today is involved in three main sectors Health, Education, Tribal/Rural Development.
Monetary gains never being the objective, the 250 bedded Sane Guruji Arogya Kendra treats more than 12000 inpatients and more than 1 lac out patients annually, with in-house staff and all up-to-date facilities with active association of Honoraries renowned in their field of specialization. It is remarkable that the quality of medi-care being comparable with any other modern hospital, more than half patients receive treatment either free or at a substantial concessional rate. Hardly ever has a patient had to go away without treatment because of poverty - since the day one till date. The charges are lowest and concession is given to needy patients.
MAM is running following institutions and projects till date.
